The Tangible Kingdom without words
Categories: Living our faith, MissionI found this video on YouTube today, and thought it was really well done. The makers have managed to convey the essence of being with our community as a way of showing that the kingdom of God really is here. For those of you who know me, one caveat: the beginning of the film shows the subject disenchanted with his apparently boring and clueless church. I’m not there. I don’t think living out the kingdom needs to be an either/or situation. I love my church, the people there, the ministries that we have and the way my church touches the community differently than an individual or a small group can. But with that one exception, this is an amazing short film with a great message. I really love things that use the metaphor of “The Table” as a symbol of community. Enjoy!

awesome! let me know if you pick up the book…everytime i watch fast and the furious, and all the 20 somethings sit down at vin diesel’s table whether they’re mad at each other or not…i’d say….that’s the picture of community i want.

Hey John, Yes…I devoured the book already. I think there are a few posts buried in the past two weeks. It’s a transformational book, though I’m working hard at understanding how to integrate the concepts with the sphere of church life as we know it. I like the fact that — in the book — the author recognizes that there is a place for a traditional community and intentional community functioning within that larger structure. He also points out that much of the funding for church plants, intentional communities comes from none other than traditional churches.
You are right…I want that kind of community too.
