Coffee Shop Journal is trying out a new style! What do you think?
David and I are not finished tweaking the re-design, but I couldn’t wait to “live in the new space” for awhile. I’d love to hear your comments as we work through this process, so please comment and register your opinion. At the moment, these are some things that I’m pondering:
- I don’t have enough coffee here! My java-loving heart wants to see some more coffee cups or coffee beans or something. Working on that.
- More color? On the other hand, white is clean.
- What do you think of the font and the font size? Is it readable? This was one of my pet peeves on my last design, so I want to get it right.
Happy Birthday, Coffee Shop Journal. Enjoy stepping out in style!

I like the new look of your blog! The font is easy on the eyes, both in size and style. Happy Anniversary CSJ!! I also enjoy the format of your “Cloud” and the addition of “What I’m Reading Now” and “Books I Love.”
Liking the new look!
I think the idea of what’s included when drinking a coffee is calm relaxing, contemplative moments. Thus, the white and simple approach works. Although it wouldn’t hurt to add earthly natural tones here and there (green and brown) nothing to lavish but enough to settle the reader to a calming state. That’s just my opinion
Yes, Sheano, precisely. I’m trying to find a high enough quality resolution picture to layer behind the white frame…a picture of coffee beans. That adds the brown in. And the green that is in the background of the picture would be a great accent color in a graphic somewhere. You’re tracking in my world!
Marla, you could also go down the route of a banner and just add the “Coffee shop journal” text into the picture, including the white and mixed earth toned colors all in one.
I like!
