I am exulting in being home to drink my home coffee today. Nothing makes me feel better than pushing the button of my Jurra-Capresso. I love this machine. I am not sure if it is available in this exact model anymore, but there is an equivalent on the market. We bought ours at William-Sonoma during a very stressful time of our lives. My father was dying of cancer, and this coffee machine was our “comfort food.” It has comforted us multiple times a day for all of the four-plus years since.

On the road this past week, David and I thoroughly enjoyed using Via, Starbucks’ new instant coffee. It is smooth yet bold. We stopped into the local grocery store for our organic cream, and then we were all set. Every morning and every afternoon we’d boil some water and sit down to a little piece of home. The boxes of Via hold 12 servings each, and you can buy them online here off the Starbucks site. Via is not available anywhere except Seattle and Chicago at this point.

Pura Vida Coffee has a great website with interesting coffee gift ideas for Mother’s Day (May 10) as well as a great coffee ethic. Their website is to benefit charitable causes, and so they often run contests and feature stories of people working to benefit the coffee-producing lands. Coffee purchased through their site benefits the families of coffee growers. Coffee for a cause!
In Starbucks news, did most of you realize that Starbucks actually owns Seattle’s Best Coffee? Yes, it is true. Here is an interesting article discussing the future growth of Seattle’s best actually helping Starbucks weather the economic times. Thanks to my twitter buddy @javatime for the link.
Finally, My Starbucks Idea did a poll to see how many of you use disposable Starbucks cups vs. “for here” cups vs. bring your own cups. Did you know you get a slight discount if you bring your own mug into Starbucks? Anyway, you can see the poll results here. My Starbucks Idea is a great blog and THE spot to post your Starbucks recommendations and requests.

Fun post. So are you an expresso drinker? or lattes or what?
I do use my S-bucks travel mug probably 90% of the time. One little less bit of waste. But i love my ‘bucks mugs anyways!! My friend and i call them our sippy cups! Only she just lost hers that she had forever so I loaned her one of mine . . . i gotta find her one on ebay. I need my backup!
Am I an espresso drinker…I guess I’d say i’m just a drinker! “My name is Marla and I’m a coffee addict…” On our machine you can set it all the way from Espresso to coffee with a twist of a dial. Sometimes I hit espresso, more often I stop half way between espresso and coffee.
I like calling it a sippy cup…ironically that makes me want to use it even more.
