Why I’m happy at Starbucks today

I’m happily working a a nice new wooden table that seats six, part of a recent remodel at one of our local Starbucks. It is the little things in life that make me happy, and this moment is no exception. Just thought I would share with you!

I’m here to write a review of The Tangible Kingdom primer a small group study. I’ll post that in awhile. I’m happy because there are now plugs everywhere so that any seat becomes fair game for a person who forgot to charge her computer last night.

I’m happy because I’m listening to Jay Boykin, on of Christ Fellowship’s worship leaders (mainly my fave City Place Campus) talk to an aspiring musician of some sort while sipping coffee and sitting in the comfy chairs across the way. I’m watching Jay step into his role of mentor, teacher, and fellow journey-er. He’s transmitting DNA, and I love it.

I’m happy because I’m watching a group of six women — maybe ten to fifteen years older than I am — drink their coffee and share their day at the little tables right next to me. They scare me (is that my future?) and inspire me (is that my future?). But the fact that they are here so happily jabbering makes me happy.

I’m happy because Starbucks had energy powder today and sometimes they don’t. And i saw my sweet barista slip the second espresso shot into my Vivano even though I only ordered one. Extra, extra, extra energy!

I’m happy because I’m pretty sure I see God working out some large decisions in my life, almost without my participation. Which makes me think he’s excited to show me a new chapter in my life. Can you think of anything better than God being so excited for what he has planned next that he goes ahead and clears all the obstacles out of the way before he knew they were obstacles?

Finally, I’m happy because I’m pretty sure my hubby will only wait an hour or so before finding me to dream about whatever is coming next in our lives. Which makes me happy but also means I need to get to work!
