Just a quick update or two…
We’re all going to be a little bit healthier at Starbucks now. With the reformulation of their food products, they are eliminating ingredients such as high-fructose corn syrup and artificial ingredients.
One of my favorite items coming out at participating stores on June 30 is the new Blueberry Streusel Muffin which is now packed full of plump, Oregon blueberries – long gone is the artificial blueberry flavor. And our Banana Walnut Bread is nearly one third pure banana! It is so yummy you will probably want to know how to bake it yourself at home! Well, you can. Recipe cards will be available in store and on our website so you can do just that.
Starbucks has been visible this year in promoting their “green practices.” One of their biggest campaigns is an attempt to get customers to use reusable mugs and travel cups, saving paper cups. They have also announced various measure such as a quest for a recyclable coffee cup in the next two years. Who knew our coffee was so prone to leaking out of paper cups? In any case, this article in Reuters highlights some of Starbucks’ efforts, and then — predictably — bashes them for not doing enough. So typical!
For the summer coffee blend lovers out there, the Gazebo blend is coming soon and is already getting some good reviews. Gazebo is one of Starbucks’ best blends to use iced.
Just because I love to put these things up on the blog, here are some health benefits for women who drink coffee (and some benefits for tea drinkers, too, for all my Scottish friends!)\
A barista examines the role of the farmers in Starbucks’ sustainability…
This is a nice blog post about business learnings from Howard Schultz and Starbucks.
I found this blog that tracks Facebook for developers (wow — niche blog!). Apparently Starbucks has just won an award for its FaceBook page and design. Hmm…I don’t think I’m friends with Starbucks. How wrong is that?
