Starbucks Rap and other things Starbucks

Coffee thoughts to catch up on today…

Have you all tried the revamped food at Starbucks lately? Just in time for my renewed health push, Starbucks took a look at their ingredient list and decided to head in a more natural, high quality direction. Read this article to learn about their changes. Speaking from personal experience, I’m totally addicted to their Marshmallow Dream Bars (aka Rice Krispie treats!) Found out today that they are only 210 calories, too. Good news for me. Also, their Banana Walnut bread is amazing. There’s a card with their recipe available, but honestly it’s more fun to go buy it!

Also, Jeremy tells me that Starbucks is redesigning some of their coffee bags, which led to a discussion about the fact that we, the consumer, DO judge a coffee by its bag. Apparently we prefer certain designs. The Christmas bag is — predictably — the favorite. One of these days when I have a little more creative energy I’ll ponder the metaphor in that.

I bought this fun red drink cup today. It’s part of the (Red) campaign to benefit AIDS research. Love it! I was with my in-laws yesterday when they reluctantly bought one, as well. Why reluctantly? Well they were trying to find a tumbler — any tumbler — that wasn’t made in China. My Red tumbler is. I thought we’d have a winner with the plastic African themed tumblers that were part of the recent push in Rwanda. Nope. China.

The sad realization for today is that my friend Jeremy is leaving our Starbucks at the end of the month to move to Tampa. I love the fact that David and I wound up hanging out at a MALL STARBUCKS because of the community found inside. And it’s true. Jeremy has created something special in his store, and we love his staff and customers. Popping in to sit at the bar with a dopio and a Marshmallow Dream Bar (Rice Krispie treat…ssshhhh) is one of the highlights of our day. More to say about Jeremy later…he’ll get his his own post closer to D day.

Finally, enjoy this fun, bizarre little video I found today. I love the creativity it took to write this rap. And the guts it took to perform it!
